The Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue have sealed twelve banks in the state capital, Ibadan, for non-pay find ment of Environmental Development Levy spanning over three years. Two enforcement teams from the board stormed the banks on Monday to effect the order; despite efforts from some staff of the banks to stop the team from sealing the banks, it however, took the intervention of security agencies attached to the teams to ensure that the order was carried out. The banks affected are locat house ed in Dugbe, Ring Road, Challenge, Jericho, Bodies, Mokola and Iyaganku areas of Ibadan. The amount owed by the banks acc business ording to the board ranges from N800,000 to N5m. Many customers were unable to access the premises while those inside had to leave through alternative routes.
